I am foremost a wife and mother of two. I live with my husband, 3 year old son and one year old daughter in Colorado where we love to hike, bike, travel, camp and generally be outdoors.
On September 9, 2011, just hours after welcoming my daughter into the world, I received my acceptance to graduate school. That morning I birthed my last child only to discover I would spend the rest of my life alongside women as a nurse-midwife!
I am a registered nurse with a background in labor and delivery, public health and forensic nursing. I am a trained doula, massage therapist and sexual assault nurse examiner.
I am passionate about woman’s health and truly believe that the health of the world begins with the mother.
I have worked as a nurse in Peru and Costa Rica in addition to travels which have taken me to Mexico, England, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, South Africa, Namibia and Zambia. I hold this quote to as truth: “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” -St. Augustine
In my spare time I strive to love my husband, laugh with my kids, make memories, eat healthy, read as much as possible, never stop learning, take photographs, give grace without limits, pursue simplicity, dream big, frequent thrift stores, promote natural childbirth and breastfeeding, practice gratitude, promote creativity, and–most of all–let love guide my life (Col. 3:14).
This is part of my journey of motherhood as I complete my nurse-midwifery education.
I am a mother. I am a midwife.
